Publication Ethics
Journal of Agricultural Sustainability (JOAS) is a scientific journal published online that publishes scientific articles resulting from research in the field of agroecotechnology.
This statement of scientific code of ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process in this journal, namely the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. The Scientific Publication Ethics Code essentially affirms three main ethical values:
(i) Neutrality — free from conflicts of interest in publication management;
(ii) Fairness — granting authorship rights only to those who are entitled to them; and
(iii) Honesty — avoiding duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in scientific publication.
Publisher
The publisher of the Journal of Agricultural Sustainability (JOAS) is responsible for publishing manuscripts that have gone through editing, review, and layout processes in accordance with the principles of scientific journal publishing.
The JOAS publisher ensures academic freedom for the editors and reviewers in carrying out their tasks professionally.
The JOAS publisher is responsible for maintaining confidentiality, protecting intellectual property, copyright, and editorial freedom.
Editor
The JOAS editor is responsible for deciding which manuscripts are suitable for publication, in compliance with applicable laws, including those related to copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
In the review and acceptance process, the JOAS editor upholds the principle of equal treatment for all authors.
The JOAS editor and editorial team will not disclose information about submitted manuscripts except with the author’s written permission.
Unpublished manuscripts will not be used by the editor for personal benefit and will be returned to the authors.
Reviewer
The JOAS reviewer assists the editor in making editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts.
Reviewers are responsible for providing objective and constructive recommendations on the manuscripts they review.
Reviewers must review manuscripts objectively, based on clear scientific arguments.
Reviewers are also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of citations and references and detecting possible duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts they review and must not use the information for personal benefit.
Author
Authors must present research results honestly, transparently, and accurately without duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, or plagiarism.
Authors are responsible for providing clarification or confirmation if requested by the editor or reviewer.
Authors must properly cite every reference or use of other people’s work.
Authors must write manuscripts ethically and responsibly, in accordance with applicable scientific writing standards.
Authors agree to have their manuscripts edited during the editing and layout stages, as long as this does not change the substance or main ideas of the text.
