Publication Ethics
Journal of Fisheries Sustainability (JOFIS) is a scientific journal published online that publishes articles or scientific works resulting from research.
This statement of scientific code of ethics is a declaration of ethical conduct for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, including the publisher, editor, reviewers, and authors. The core values of the Scientific Publication Ethics Code uphold three key ethical principles:
Neutrality, meaning free from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
Fairness, meaning granting authorship rights to those who are entitled to them; and
Honesty, meaning free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.
Publisher
The publisher of the Journal of Fisheries Sustainability (JOFIS) is responsible for publishing manuscripts that have undergone editing, review, and layout processes in accordance with the standards of scientific journal publishing.
The JOFIS publisher is responsible for ensuring academic freedom for editors and reviewers in performing their respective duties.
The JOFIS publisher is responsible for maintaining privacy, protecting intellectual property, copyright, and editorial independence.
Editor
The editor of the Journal of Fisheries Sustainability (JOFIS) is responsible for deciding which manuscripts are suitable for publication, with reference to applicable legal provisions regarding copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
In the review and acceptance process, the JOFIS editorial team adheres to the principle of equal treatment in making decisions regarding publication.
The editor and editorial team of JOFIS will not disclose information about manuscripts submitted to the journal except with the author’s permission.
Manuscripts that are not published will not be used by the editor for personal research purposes and will be returned directly to the author.
Reviewer
Reviewers of the Journal of Fisheries Sustainability (JOFIS) assist the editor in making editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts.
Reviewers of JOFIS are responsible for providing recommendations on the manuscripts they review.
Manuscript reviews must be conducted objectively, supported by clear arguments.
Reviewers of JOFIS are responsible for assessing citations, references, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism in the manuscripts they review.
Reviewers of JOFIS must always maintain confidentiality and not use information from the manuscripts they review for personal gain.
Author
Authors must present manuscripts based on their ideas or research clearly, honestly, and without duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, or plagiarism.
Authors are responsible for providing clarifications regarding their submitted manuscripts.
Authors must cite the sources of opinions and works of others that are referenced.
Authors must write manuscripts ethically, honestly, and responsibly, in accordance with applicable scientific writing standards.
Authors agree that their manuscripts may be edited during the review and layout process, as long as this does not change the substance or main ideas of the work.
